Weed and My Future
September 18, 2008 by McKenna · 9 Comments
The other day a friend asked me why I work for Marijuana Radio. He was very concerned about the nature of the program and the effect it might have on my future endeavors. My friend believes that I will be stigmatized and unable to obtain a job in the future. He is worried that the pictures of me smoking pot will hinder my life in the corporate world and cause legal trouble for me. His worry is valid and I understand his reservations about my work with MJR, but I disagree with his philosophy. He is fearful, like many American citizens who refuse marijuana due to it’s illicit label.
My father has similar concerns about my weed smoking photos, he told me to take them down because if I get in trouble the photos could be used as incriminating evidence. He said I could deny the fact that I smoke pot if I didn’t have any evidence depicting myself doing it.
I work for Marijuana Radio because I absolutely believe marijuana should be legal. MJR provides a platform for me to express my beliefs and help other activists with their struggles. Just because something is illegal doesn’t mean it is necessarily bad. I understand the implications of my decision to smoke pot openly and do not worry for my future employment.
Furthermore, I would never deny the fact that I smoke marijuana, if the day comes when I am caught smoking reefer I will own up to it and go down with stoner pride. I will stand up for my freedom of choice and not be daunted by unjust laws.
Legalize it!

John E. Necro from OPM

For one more night we fought the weed fight and welcomed John E. Necro from OPM to talk to us about their new album. Later on we went through a list of numbers trying to find a pot user to give a Gravity Vortex bong. One mouthy lady was kind of rude to McKenna which made for a unique moment. Stick around through the Reefer Report for some worthy laughs. Support the show by joining VIP!
